You are a road transport company

Are you a road transport company and your drivers load and unload trucks in France? If so, these activities fall under temporary posting of workers regulations.

Your company must for this reason:


  • Establish a prior declaration of worker posting (SIPSI) for each driver. This certificate is valid for a six month period and can cover several temporary worker posting missions on French territory.
  • Inform each driver travelling within France that a copy of this prior declaration of worker posting must be kept in their vehicle,
  • Designate a representative established in France. Your representative will act as an intermediary between your company and the French administration and will keep any necessary documents to be transferred to the French Authorities should an inspection take place,
  • Transfer all documents relating to the temporary posting of your drivers to the representative,
  • Respect laws outlined by French legislation, notably regarding the monthly minimum wage.


It is important to note that non-compliance with these obligations carries an administrative fine of 4.000 Euros for each driver posted on French territory.

In July 2017, it became mandatory for your company to indicate on the prior declaration of worker posting (SIPSI) the following information:

  • Your intra-community VAT number. If your country of establishment has not issued you a VAT number, you must mention the company’s registration number with the Registry of Companies of your country,
  • The country in which the posted worker is affiliated to social security, namely your country of establishment,
  • The name and contact details of your representative in France. These documents must be kept by your representative who will, if necessary, present them in French to the appropriate authorities.
